Webinar “Empowering Africa: Accelerating Energy Efficiency for Sustainable Development”

25.04.2024

Energy efficiency, recognised as the "first fuel", is a cornerstone for reducing energy demand, enhancing security, and countering electricity price volatility. Moreover, it fosters economic growth by slashing energy bills, propelling industrial expansion, and fostering sustainability.

The African Energy Commission (AFREC) is spearheading efforts to address Africa's energy efficiency needs through its African Energy Efficiency Strategy and Action Plan (AfEES), targeting key sectors such as industry, transportation, and agriculture. Meanwhile, the EU's Energy Efficiency Directive, bolstered by the REPowerEU plan, is steering Europe's energy transition amidst geopolitical challenges, emphasising decreased reliance on Russian fossil fuel imports.

This webinar will serve as a platform of exchange on Africa's current energy efficiency landscape and get insights from European experiences to fortify Africa-Europe collaboration in pioneering energy efficiency solutions.

The event will be in English. Find out more on the AEEP website.
